I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I did have a few valve keepers that were kind of stuck to the valve, and the spring retainer, so they didn't easily release.

As long as you have the heads off the engine, that tool should work. If the heads are still on, I don't think you'll have enough room on the exhaust valves to get the proper leverage on the tool, or even fit the tool into place on the drivers side.


I ended up renting a tool from a board member. It is a bar that bolts to the head, allowing you to use some lever action to compress the springs.

I actually have a few keepers left over I can send you (you'll likely drop one, and they are quite small). I also replaced all of my hydraulic lash adjusters after I found a few bad ones. I probably didn't need to replace all of them, but I didn't want to have to do the job again anytime soon.
