If you're anal about the bright white, get some of the self-sealing electrical tape and wrap them. Did mine many years ago and they haven't failed yet from weather. (My first attempt was with cross sections of inner tube and that rubber lasted less than two years before starting to split and fail.)

Wahoooo!!! The 4 Crawler 2 inch body lift kit arrived today! Nice! The install isn't bad at all. Just a bit time consuming. Take your time, have a beer and in a couple hours she'll be all set. Thanks Sean! Plan on setting aside a weekend to do the lift. Anyone have any tips or tricks for jacking up the truck body? Thanks , Jon Jon, The walk-thru mentions doing one side at a time. Since I was replacing the frame, I obviously did both sides at the same time. If you have the means to do it this way, I would recommend doing both sides at the same time. The main reason is that I was OCD about having the mounts perfectly centered - and if you do both sides at once, gravity works in your favor. With jacks at the front and rear, you can leave slack in the bolts and go around the body tightening them up like you were tightening lug bolts. Just go in a uniform pattern and tighten slowly (1/4" at a time if you have to), then go eyeball the mounts to make sure everything is on center. As for how I did it...I had the body itself supported on 4 jack stands with 6" cuts of 4x4" blocks on top. The jack stands were placed just inside each axle, making sure to leave room to access the body mount locations. I also cut grooves in the blocks so the pinch seam went down the center of the blocks. Then, once I was done with the jacks, and the body was sitting on the stands...I used one jack at each end of the truck, under the front and rear of the frame. I used 4x4" blocks here too to extend the lifting range of the jacks. You can do it one side at a time with a lot less equipment. lol. So maybe that's a better option for you. But I did like the fact that doing it this way, gravity helped to center the frame as it hung loose. My total equipment: 2 jacks, 6 blocks (6" long, 4x4 post), 4 jack stands. A weekend is more than enough...that leaves you a full day for wheeling.

A 2" lift on the SWB needed the fuel filler hose to be extended. Don't know on a Gen II.

A 2" lift on the SWB needed the fuel filler hose to be extended. Don't know on a Gen II. I did a 1" lift, but I know the brackets wouldn't reach to bolt to the frame anymore. Though, nothing needed to be extended. I think on the LWB, up to 2" and you're still safe. If you go to 3", you need to get a longer filler hose (I think).

Hi all, I'm new to the montero world and I have been researching all sorts of issues. One question I have is has anybody tried the Zone Offroad blocks? http://zoneoffroad.com/product-acc?ki=402&gr=I've used these on a chevy Astro van and am wondering if they will work on my 94 SR. Their website has blocks of various sizes for $3.00 a block. Which size would be best? 2" X 2" or 2" X 3". Seems like a pretty cheap alternative if they are suitable.
94 SR Bought for $650. New Crank, Updated Lower Intake plenum, 15x8 procomp wheels driver side Bouncy Seat, Stock mitsu rear locker. Up coming mods; 35x12.5x15 Goodyear wrangler Kevlars, safari style roof rack, 2" BL, Spring spacers or OME springs, recovery gear.
