Thanks SO Cal. Definitely want the best tires. The Dusy in particular is notoriuosly hard on tires. I once damaged a tire at the start, and did the rest of the trail with out a spare....that was scary!
In recent years we have opened it up to any rigs. They just need to be equipped for the trip, and be easy going.
For my trips, they are typically 10 days. If I am driving 12-16hrs one way, I plan to cover some ground. That and I just hate work anyhow <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

I started mapping out where we're suppose to be going and meeting on the 1st of Sept. Calico Ghost town is actually only gonna take us about 6.5 hours to get to. We are going to be covering A LOT of ground in this trip.

That was partly the idea. Calico is closer to LA where I will be, and closer for the AZ crew. Will be a bit further for some Northern CA folks. Calico is a simple to find place to meet as well.
I wanted to tweek the Challenge this year....Its a lot of ground, but not much commuting. Unlike say doing the Dusy and the Con in the same trip. That is too much road time.

Right, I know there was a fair bit of highway between some trails in 05 when I went. But I was mapping from the point we start on the 1st till the day we leave on the 10th or 11th. Looks like most of the miles will be tracked on the trail but its quite a distance between start to finish it seems. Either way its all fine by me just didn't realize till I started following a map.
