This is for the Black 92

Intermittant turn signal operation. When they work the T/S & flashers work normally. When they do not work - both are no go with no indicator light function for the T/S or flashers.

I took the fuse out to check when they were not working (fuse OK) - reinstalled and they started working again. Today they were not working when driving then started working (same key cyle) then quit functioning during the same trip. I tried jiggling the ignition key and the T/S lever while driving to see if any change would happen = none.

Is is possibly a weak flasher? Since I can manipulate the switch and ign switch with no change I cannot fault them. Today was the first time there was no function - then function - then no function same key cycle - regular roads with no body "jarring" - anyone else had this happen? If so - what fixed it.

With all the motorcycle riders here I feel guilty not being able to signal my intent and have to be more careful than normal letting the long term action of the Paj show what I intend to do. But not good for me or them. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

Check the flasher relay. May also be the main lighting relay up front behind the driver's side headlight.

Does it do it in both turn directions? If not, check bulb sockets for corrosion/bad connection, and bulbs for broken filaments that are making intermittent connection. Cycle the column connector for the turn signal switch. Replace the flasher.

Edit: Oh yeah, all the turn signal circuits go thru the eflasher switch, too... It's possible to take it apart and clean up the contacts if you pry the tabs gently...

Body Damage is Cool
Hey Pete the most likely cause is the e flasher switch <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Thanks - until my tools arrive with the shipment (1 week) - loooong story I post later - I'm down to not much more than my B&D wireless screwdriver. I think the e flasher switch would be the culprit because when I bought my 90 the t/s didn't work & they replaced the e flasher switch = ok

I may try and bypass/jump for now and see how that works. I have the Factory Manuals in the shipment for the 90 and I'll bet all is the same for the 92 and that will help once I get it.

Short version - the law changed in Thailand about vehicle import after I shipped & they won't let the 90 in. At the end of this met someone with enough juice to over ride this but by then the paper trail couldn;t be overcome. Rather than let them sieze/steal it I have to ship it back to the US to save then fly there to meet it & store as I have no one else there - is that Monty love or what? It's a little more involved but will post later. There's a picture of it attached.

It's fixed - even as p/o'd I am at Thailand (see previous post) this is one of the reasons I love it.

Got up today to do a few errands. Solo (hoooray) since the maid is here on her one day a week thing so my wife stayed home. One of the errands was to have the T/S looked at as they weren't working.

Drove for many km's and they worked perfectly - nothing to fault or show. Finally went in the shopping center and they quit working as I parked. Jumped out and tapped the flasher = worked. OK - bad flasher.

After done with that errand went to an auto store with a shop that does about everything from access to welding/fabrication and asked for a flasher showing what was wrong. Girl got a tech and he put in the flasher - worked. Then he light checked - cleaned the inside of the back lenses, took the two fron lenses in and washed & cleaned the pocket areas around the bulbs. Replaced two in-op marker lights in the front which was hard due the ARB. Fixed one socket while another guy worked on the other side front and installed a new screw anchor as the top screw wouldn't hold. Demostrating the failed parts as the went which they put in a bag to return if I wanted them (didn't).

I had no appointment - total wait time from drive in to drive out - they started immediately and took maybe an hour........... total cost parts and labor - about $11 bucks. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
