the '89 HB didn't have "the holes". So your H.B. is older than your truck. I'd seat that HB and makes sure it fits the crank real tight. It's real soft iron and gets hammered to a larger size hole if it was ever loose. The H.B. might look simple but it is very important to have a perfect fit and balance. Cheap Dorman ones are available for around $110. I'd get the $180 OME if I had to do it.

Yeah, judging by the somewhat questionable things I've found so far, I'm going to be checking everything very closely. I still haven't managed to get the pulley off, I need to go get a chain wrench. I may just go ahead and order the OEM pulley.

woops, sorry about the wheel info,,,was thinking you had gen1 , dispite thread title <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" /> The outer puulley part are pretty brittle for a chain wrench instead of the belt wrench in the FSM. ,,,but if your gonna replace it doesn't matter.

Hmm, I didn't even think about d/l'ing the earlier model FSM. I tried the starter trick, but either the lack of decent grounds, or a weak starter just wouldn't break it loose. I'm trying to be careful, I certainly don't want the broken-bolt issue. I'm thinking a "Big-3" upgrade might not be a bad idea, either.
