Is there a way to tighten a driver side mirror on a 1988 4wd pickup?

My FSM shows everything BUT that. I did get a replacement mirror for my 86; you have a set of screws under the finish cover (triangular piece). Might see if you can get a small screwdriver under it to pry off; just make sure the base where the mirror swivels isn't the culprit, vs the base itself being loose.
**Do** take your time.
Wouldn't hurt to have some loctite handy.

Depends on the mirror style, but i was able to adjust mine on my 89'. there is a nut that you can tighten under the plastic cover that kewlynx mentioned... you just have to carefully pry it off...

Popped off the plastic cover, plastic tube with a slit in cased around rod. I could see washer in the slit. I wasn't smart enough to take picture.
THe only thing that was accessible was the phillips screws holding it on the door.

remove the mirror from the door. there should be 2 or 3 screws? You will get to the bolt on the back side of the mirror. Sorry it's been 8 years!

Does it require going into the door panel?

If it's the mirror i'm thinking of, no it's all done from outside.

Picture would be a big help, if possible. Click on the FAQ above to show yourself how.

My '85 did not have OEM mirrors on it when I bought it. But on other vehicles, I have found there is usually an adjustment nut accessed from the base of the mirror to tighten them up.

If they are these mirrors: ![[Linked Image]](http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s35/Greg_Canada/My%204runners/pics007.jpg) You take off the cap, unscrew the mirror, then you can adjust it.
