As any of you who read my posts know I am new to off-road. Before I go out and join a 4WD club or take Jon up on his offer to go out I would like to make sure I have what I need to go. I have done searches and found list with 12 items and some as high as 36 items. I have this.

Well running LWB Monty
Hi-lift
Shovel
Spare tire
Tow strap
Tools with Pickle fork and BFH
grease
ATF,Oil,break fluid
Antifreeze
Spare Upper and Lower Hoses (radiator)
Spare Upper and Lower ball-joints
No brains

Some of these lists I think have item specific for makes.

Do a Google search and you'll find dozens of these lists to help you get an idea. Everyone's will differ slightly.

One thing I would recommend is sharing the load between other vehicles (assuming you are going on a group trip) so that there aren't 5 people carrying the same tools/parts/etc. This gives everyone a little more room in their vehicles.

you have antifreeze but you definitely need to add water to the list.

If you carry all that, you're a better man than I. As a fellow rookie, I appreciate your concern. On my first trail run last weekend, I took a flat spare, a small box of very basic hand tools (no pickle forks of BFH), oil, coolant, water, heater hose, tow strap, bugout bag (emergency kit). My buddy had one of those very popular air compressors. We ended up needing it.

I recently watched a video where a British guy mentioned "PETROL" - petrol, electrical/charging, tires, radio, oil, lights. Good things to check before you leave, ya know? Got enough gas? Electrical system up to snuff? Will you cell phone/radio work/last? Etc.

Upgrade the tow strap to a snatch strap. A snatch strap will make recoveries easier and less damage prone. Snatch straps stretch while tow straps don't. You'll want this kind of stretch in a recovery. They are more expensive but well worth it IMHO.

Basic mechanic set with socket, open/closed end wrenches, screw drivers.

Oil: 6 qt.
Tranny: 1 qt.
Brake: 1 sm bottle
Coolant: 1 gal
Gas: 5 gal. Use a NATO can or a scepter can. Both are good quality and don't leak fumes. Blitz style Jerry cans with a screw on metal cap are not so leak free.
Canvas tarp: I use an old marine corp nylon blanket. Great to cover the ground when you have to lay in it. Also good to put dirty broken parts in after a trail breakdown or as a blanket should you forget your sleeping bag (like on a "3 hr tour" trip) or if its not be warm enough.

ABC fire Extinguisher: This should either be securely mounted or stored because in an accident they will become a heavy projectile.

Water: 5 gal (recommend a dedicated container like the military scepter made for water) but any setup works really.
Energy Bars: 1 box.
Camping gear.

There's probably more. I keep a lot of these things in my rig like the basic tools and extinguisher. The rest I keep in a box ready to go on my next outing.

I once brought a bag of chips and a sleeping bag out wheeling just in case. I always have a few gallons of water in my vehicles, mandatory Az stuff.

If you don't have a Gen1, you'll need extras for your Hi-Lift so you can actually use it. I carry a come-a-long - a good one, not a $20 POS. A repair manual is handy.
