Looks like the other truck has 4.27 gears so it has to work harder and generates more heat. Get him on some 4.63's and retest. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Also were you both in low range? These are large factors in generating heat. Having a hood vent will make a huge difference but for the sake of comparison don't forget to factor in the gearing.

Yes, we were both in 4Lo...but I didn't know the Gen2.5 had shallower gearing!

Though...4.27 and well-worn 31's vs 4.63 and 2-day old 33's. So it's not that dramatic of a difference.

I will test again when I can post numbers. Need to get me some sort of cheap thermoprobe and gauge.

I have a set of nice sturdy vents I pulled off a 280ZX turbo. I had intended to put them on the Trooper but never did. I'm not in a hurry to cut holes in my hood, but I may later on smile .

I'd also recommend something to catch and divert rain underneath.
