Yeah appreciate the support and everyone else hating on tire dealers. I'm going to talk to the guy thats doing my little brother's lift this week. I haven't had a chance to talk to him yet, but since i'm home for Christmas it'll give me a chance. Another thing is that all these people at the retail places that give me hell about lifting it don't give me a why about it, but the guy that rebuilt my little bro's tacoma (salvage title) said that'll look great the cheapest way to do it is to get you some cornbred spacers. I asked if it would hurt anything to get about 2 1/5 inches and he said naw it'll be alright. Why can't everyone be as cool as him.

Hey everybody. I'm new. Here's my two cents:

1.) I saw you mentioned the TrXus tires....very good option in my opinion. I've had them for 18 months on my '87 Xtra Cab....I love them. Not too loud on the road and they love the mud!

2.) ChitRod and Rob, my parents moved to Alabama 3 years ago, Selma to be exact. And....my wife and I were there for turkey day, too. (Got a stinking speeding ticket on Highway 80.) So, I definitely feel you guys on the retailer attitude. Here in Ohio, I haven't had to many funny looks whenever I get equipment for mine. But, then again that isn't for my 4Runner (since I just bought it), it was mainly for my '87 truck.

Anyway, help you getcha some tires soon, Chitrod.

On a somewhat related subject, The 4Runner I just bought has 265/75R16 Dayton Timberlines (yuck.) Any suggestions for a reasonably priced semi-aggressive tire? I'd love BFG All Terrains, but I'd like to find a more economical substitution.

Thanks.

I have gotten this many times where you want something that seems strange or out of the ordinary. You get all the "It won't work", "I wouldn't do that", "Are you f***n stupid or something?" etc.

I just remember that I am not ordinary. My ideas are not ordinary. These guys sell ordinary. It is my jobs to take things that are ordinary and create something extraordinary.
So just tell them "Thank you, I understand what you are saying. But just give me what I want." If that dosen't do it then you can always do it like we do in Brooklyn..."Look f**k head, give me the god damn part and keep you mouth shut. If I wanted to know what you though then I would have asked, right? This too much for you to understand anyway. Now go get the f**n part, keep your mouth shut, and do your motherf**kn job!"

They will curse you and call you names. I revel in it. When you leave they will go off about you. Love it! Why should you have explain something of yours to someone else?

Good luck. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

I want the Dueler M/T, but if i had to pick off of 4wheel parts i'd have to go with Trxus, or BFG Mud Terrian in the 285 size, but if I could fit 305/70's I would go with the xterrians, or ssr's

Actually guys... I'm with you on how you feel, BUT DON'T YOU KNOW WHY THE TIRE STORES ARE SAYING THAT??
They really are just trying to protect themselves of any possible liability! Have NONE of these retail stores given straightforward reason to you?? The Costco up here in Canada will sell me "oversized" BFGs but WILL NOT mount and balance the tires for me.
They say they have to follow the manufacturer's specifications. I guess that follows with the same reason with the possiblity of voiding a part or all of the manufacturer's when you lift your truck. yes, it sucks...
