Body Damage is Cool
Curious if anyone has gone with 18" tires on their Montero. I owned an 05 Land Rover LR3, and have 5 like new Goodyear Duratrac tires in a 275/65/18. They measure about 32", and would work... just don't know about airing them down, etc.
Also would there even be a wheel available with our center bore in an 18? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
BTW, the Rover caught <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" /> fire, and was totaled recently <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />

You can order rims easily enough. No reason not to use them. But, you won't likely be airing down too much due to the sidewall height.

I'm too stubborn(see cheap) to move up to 16's because they are more expensive... 18's no way.

I'll have to research the rims.
As far as airing down; my thoughts exactly. Another thing is the rover (because of the air suspension) didn't need to be aired down.
The other concern was appearance. The Montero came stock w/ 15's , I don't want the "ghetto" look.

Throw on some 22" spinners, loud music and a fart cannon. You'll fit right in.

1987 Raider, 346K miles and going strong -31" tires, otherwise stock.

Airing down the tires for ride quality or traction? I would worry about the sidewall punctures if you went too far down the PSI scale. As far as the air ride on the LR, you could rig that on the Montero too and mixed with bouncy seat bases, could rule the dunes.

If the overall diameter is good, then yeah, they should fit.

They may look a little ridiculous on a 1990's SUV, and they might not ride as well off-road since more rim = less tire = less air volume...but technically, they would fit.

Ray...that was mean. lol. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

To the LR owner in the picture? Naw, he was happy to be helped out of Pismo. I told him his biggest problem was his tire size and their inability to distribute his rigs weight especially when he was in soft sand. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cyclops.gif" alt="" />
