I'm about to drop a starion engine in my 1st gen and need some help.

How do I plumb the coolant return line from the turbo. The manual shows the pipe the runs around the back has a Y near the front where it meets the water pump? Problem is i don't have the Y in my pipe.

I plan on using the montero steering pump but oil pressure sensor is in the way. Can I just plug that port and get oil pressure off the side of the block like on the monty? There looks to be clearance but not sure till I get the turbo coolant line figured out.

Some have a y on the pump others have the outlet right from the waterpump if you dont have a pipe that goes around the block with a Y you need a the waterpump with it.

I kinda like the Starion sterring so you can have your resivor higher up in the engine bay more easy to get too and maybe more away from water. You probly could use the other spot for oil pressure tho.

Good luck!

Thanks! I have two pipes and two waterpumps from starions but none work together know what years are what?

If I had a starion pump I would run it for ease of access, don't think water will be an issue cause the vent goes up to the idler pully.

I had the same water return problem. I bought a copper tee fitting sized to fit the large water return pipe from the rad to the water pump. I also bought several copper reducer bushings and a threaded nipple x mip fitting, and soldered the reducers into the branch of the tee, and tapped the last reducer to match the mip side of the nipple. Then I cut the water hose and clamped the tee in the hose. Do you have the thermostat housing with the water nipple.

Dont understand why you dont have either the part if you have a starion engine, unless you got one that is from an oil cooled only turbo? But had a turbo that didnt match your engine? Oh about the oil pressure sensor I looked and I did what you said connected it to the stock montero location and blocked off the one in the oil cooler adapter.

I pieced the engine together from multiple online sources mostly from the starquest forum. I've never even sat in a starion and haven't seen one since the 90's.

i think I have everything sorted except the plumbing and mounting of all the coolers. Got to take care of some rust first and then I can drop it in.

Ahh I see I know how that is! I have lots of parts from the starquest and I am doing the swap now (from v6 to 2.6 turbo) And its amazing how many small little parts you need!
