I've got a Gen 1 4cyl but no lift, I'm running Montero Sport springs in the rear, they don't give much lift but they are military wrapped springs, we always bend the Gen 1 leafs out fourwheeling so these work well.
I've also got rock sliders on the truck, for extra clearance i notched the pinch welds and welded the sliders fit up into the notch.
