Well, the time is almost here. I will be relocating to the great State of Texas in a few days.

I'm planning on pulling a 5x8 u-haul box trailer behind my 95 LS 3.0 24v with 30-43 A/T.

In preparation for this, replaced front and rear calipers, front rotors, pads all around, and I have replaced all drive line fluids, flushed tranny with Mitsu SP3, and tinted the bejayzus out of my windows (TX sun not friendly to interiors or drivers, especially coming from CT! LOL) I have a Curt Class 3 4 bolt receiver rated at 4000lbs and a curt 2" hitch rated at 7500lbs.

I have searched for an answer using search function, but no real info on what the best way to tow is. I have heard conflicting info regarding overdrive on or off, best speed to try and maintain, etc. It is around 1600 miles, through some fairly hilly terrain at times.

Any advice you wise and insightful Mitsy enthusiasts care to share with me? It is much appreciated as always, gents.

LOL why do you say that, Mike? the state is booming, it respects my right to own firearms, has no annual car property tax... the list goes on and on. It is a million time better than this POS state that made me a felon 21 times over with the swipe of a few pens.

I've towed more with less...
Just make sure the tongue wt./ balancething is right and ,,go.
I don't know about the overdrive thing,,,,but isn't that figure out by a computer on the LS.?
unless your hauling all your gold in that little 5x8 , you shouldn't even know your pulling it.
What part of TX???
Big Bend area or Hill Country I hope...
From the air it looked like there's a bunch of badland canyon land around Amarillo,,,probably private ranch land and off limits , I'm guessin.

I 5x8 should not be too heavy. Just make sure you load it heavy enough in the front to get a proper tongue weight.

And don't be afraid to go slow up the big hills. I towed a ~3500lbs trailer with my old 95 LS from Vegas to the L.A. area, lots of big long hills (and 110+ degree heat) trying to climb above 55 had the temp gauge climbing but other than that it was fine.

Starting off in the piney woods part, way east, near LA border Sabine area. I need trees to survive.. lol my pale ass would be vaporized in the more arid parts of the state.

I was thinking it would not be too bad for my LS, but just wanted to be sure. It does not like hills without a trailer, so it really aint gonna like hills with an extra 1800lbs or so

Thanks for the advice. Did you use the o/d switch a lot on the hills, or did you just let the tcu do it's thing?

Torque band is higher rpm on the 24 v 3.0 , so maybe that why you feel it. I moved with a 12 foot long x 6 foot wide 3 foot sides open trailer(you can do that 7 months a year here. It didn't even decrease my MPG.
I was in Lufkin for a little while.
You better get you some mud tires.
Other than the sulfur smell from the paper mills and humidity it was pretty nice. Lots of shade,,lots of good fishing/boating/canoeing.

I was looking at Lufkin, if I can find work there, it is a real possibility.

I have BFG's on my LS now, have had good luck with them in all kinds of muck and snow.

Thanks for the info, Dave. Much appreciated.
