if its a long flat stretch, leave OD on, it's fine.

If there are any hills, even fairly minor, take OD off, the extra power is good, and not shifting back and forth will save a lot of wear on your trans.

Yeah the tranny was good at switching down on it's own, problem is it would shift back up and then back down and hunt on the hills. Better to just turn off OD at any hill.

But yeah for flat or downhill there should not be any problem with OD.
