I am wondering what others have done My upper one needs to be fixed or replaced. I tried a bit to get the pin out to try and fix it that way but did not get it out. Can I just buy a new one I am willing to do that, but looks like its about 120+ for that.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Mine had a worn out pin and drug on the bumper when opened. I had to drill mine out. Then I increased the hole diameter to 11/16" and bought a grade 8 bolt long enough to be able to cut off the head and the threaded part. Bought needle bearings that were sealed on one side. I drilled a hole and threaded it for a set screw in the lower portion of the hinge to hold the bolt "pin" in place. I also used bronze washers between the door side and body side. Make sense?

In short my pin would not come out even using a 20T press! I had to find a way to fix it and thought I should make it stronger and last longer! Maybe it will work!

I got a pair from the JY when our 98 lost a pin. Had to paint them though.

My 95 Gen II had holes in the pin housing that I could spray into. Never had a problem. The 98 (and my 00 now) does have the hole. The 00 is now binding pretty bad and I fear for its future.

Need a Spot
You can buy a new one...its a really simple install if you have 2 people since one will have to hold the door while you take the hinge off. You need to take both of the hinges off to replace one.

Yes, but like he said, ~$120 each. I got the JY pair for ~$40. Hard pard is finding them as they are usually still on the doors. Need to find a rig with the door wrecked.

I removed it drilled it out used 1/4in then up to a 3/8in and then after I got all the OEM stuff out I over bored it with a 1/2in and put a long 1/2 bolt in there. I removed the threads so its just a pin. Works great.
