you need to tow it down here so he can make it fast, then we can go to Hardrock and wheel there. then we'll all be buddies and will have a good excuse to go to NC and hit up Uwharrie.

Haha I like the way you think! What's hardrock? Haven't been to Uwahrroe in ages.

As for my VR4, done a lot of work to it. Currently Seth at Auto Velocity has been working on my GT, runs great, just need a final dyno tune

Angelo, Hardrock is a MX and 4x4 park made from an old quarry. It's about the only place in Florida that has large scale rock trails, steep long (200 yards, which is long for flat Florida), 60?+ grades, etc. Gonna get Matt there and ruin him on playing in the mud.

Both of these ideas sound great! I went to Uwharrie once when I lived in Charlotte. Frank you would love it! I went with my friend Mike who at the time had a s-10 on 49's. That truck was nuts. That day a guy we went with rolled his late model stockish daily driver Tahoe.

The Monty and the camper will be ready for hardrock come the fall. Looking forward to it!

So, what's going on with your vr4? And where is the best place to buy the OME suspension?

EDIT: Wow, I just clicked on your cardomain link and realized that your 2.5gen is the one I've been drooling over for the past month when I google Montero! Cool! That's got to be the nicest 2.5gen on the planet. Mine is the same color lol. I'm going with 33's and a 1.25" OME suspension lift. Do you have any pics of your truck in a similar setup?

Ha ha thanks man! Small world right! I've also attached a picture in my previous post above of the VR4 beside the topic title. For my Montero I chose JAOS 2" suspension left, and old man emu shocks front and rear. I purchased my OME shocks from 4 wheel parts years ago, I just told him what I had and they supplied me with what I needed. Whether or not it is the correct ones I'm not certain. They have lasted me nearly 9 years now.

I also did a 2" body lift as well and modified the front frame horns and lifted the rear quarter of the frame to lift the rear & gas tank. The small picture in my avatar was from Uwharrie on Rocky Mountain Loop.

As for the VR4, it is doing better now, before it had a lot of issues that we have slowly work out and now I have a FMIC instead of the side mounts.

What else do you plan on doing with the Montero. I had this wild idea to modify a junked Montero that had in storage cut it in half and make it to the trailer. One of these days I will learn how to weld or find someone that can help me haha

You will lose power without the resonators. Those are helmholtz resonators designed to raise the air pressure at the TB. I bet they are worth about 4-5hp. This is more than you will gain with a k&n nonfilter when new, and lots more than the k&n and worn out rings from all the grit that gets by the "filter", not to mention the oil contamination on the maf from the k&n oil in the filter. Add a prefilter bonnet to the k&n and the obstruction is worse than a clean stock filter.

I'd certainly like to see some before and after dyno runs of that.

It boosts low midrange torque. The chamber creates a resonance that boosts pressure at the throttle body at certain rpm ranges, thus increasing air flow there. I saw an article in some online mag several years ago that referenced it. Didn't have a dyno curve sheet but it stated that it was good for several foot pounds. Some of them are just silencers, but this one is for power. Same on mid 90's Miatas. Late 4.3 Jimmy motors had one in the manifold casting with a servo on a gate for it, also for power.

Some of my preference is due to living on granite, where the dust has a lot of quartz. If I was still in Alabama and on limestone, I might feel different.

That's interesting. Dyno sheets are too expensive for this but I'd still love to see before and after curves. I'm going to put them back in and see if the butt dyno registers anything.

Shooting for VSS this weekend. It will be my first time with the heads on the block. What tool do you guys use to supply air to the cylinder? I had planned on using my compression tester hose but then realized I don't think it will work without destroying it. Looks like I need to buy a leak-down tester and use that hose.
