lol, well who needs correct torque specs anyway!

Done and purring, actually roaring. Drives like a new truck. Seems to have a ton of power compared to before. It must have been running extremely rich with all of that oil in the combustion camber killing the power.

Took about 15 hours. I dread that job but it's going to be really nice not to leave a smoke trail every where I go. A couple weeks ago a lady whom I work with husband followed me to work to complain about how stinky my truck is!

Got some Montero love in the mail today! I just tried to post pictures but they are too big. I think it's time to do something about that. Not complaining or anything, but the smallest pictures that my 2-year old phone takes are too big for 4x4wire. Considering all the advertisements around here, you would think we would have the bandwidth. I'm on a ton of forums and this is the only one with the issue.

Anyways, if I could post pics I would show you my new OME springs and shocks, transmission mount, power steering hose, and my favorite of the bunch...my new bling bling Mitsu emblem for the back!

I doubt its about bandwidth. 4x4wire uses custom written forum software that lacks a lot of features, including automatic resizing. Too bad really. 4x4wire is a great meeting spot otherwise. You can always use Picasa or Imgur or something like that to host the files and then include them. Or resize them yourself to a smaller size. But I agree its a pain in the butt and it shouldn't be.

I love this place too and am generally not someone who complains about things. I just see room for improvement. Or we can continue to party like it's 1999.

It's not a big deal on this thread because no one needs to see the new box of OME parts, but on other threads it is a potential problem. If I'm trying to help someone and need to post a picture, I can't do it without sitting down at an obsolete desktop or laptop! Most of the time those are not available to me as I'm flying mobile and touchscreen.

Replaced the transmission mount last night. It got rid of about half of the tranny clunks and thuds. The old one was completely collapsed. I'm still not satisfied with the shift points though.

Tomorrow I'm going to install the OME rear springs and shocks, t bar crank the front, and remove the running board covers and mud flaps. I'll take some before and after pics and try to post them. If I get ambiguous maybe I'll gut the cats. One out of the three looks like a PITA.

Hey Matt, it was nice accidentally bumping into you at Blue Ridge Gathering haha. I don't think I still would've known it was you if Greg never mentioned anything!

Are your shift points at factory settings or are you just wanting to shorten them or make it down shift sooner when on an incline? As for the side steps, get some Toyota sliders and get some grips on them so none of the kids or wife slide across it. It'll serve dually as a step and protection. Have fun cleaning off the double sided tape. I also eventually took off the large side decal on the lower half of the doors. Good luck and it was awesome meeting you! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Hi Angelo, it was awesome to meet you too! What are the chances that out of 100+ people we were standing next to eachother lol.

Your vr4 is absolutely beautiful. I can't believe how much different it looks compared to the last time I saw it!

Congrats also on the Dragon Slayer award!

My downshifts and upshifts are both much too conservative. I don't think these are factory settings, I think something is wrong. If I punch it WOT from a stop it will shift at 5000rpm. If I'm cruising at 40 and punch it, it will delay a long time and then downshift only one gear. It should totally downshift 2 gears.

My old GEN2 would run circles around this GEN2.5 truck because of the shift points. It has not given me any problems off-road or uphill though but we really don't have any of those in FL.

I was thinking about painting over the big side stickers. Is that what you did? I've got some pics coming in a few minutes.

Here is the pic of the tranny mounts. You can see the old one is collapsed on both sides. I watched the new one bear the load to make sure it didn't also collapse immediately upon install. So far, so good.

Old Man Emu OME rear shocks and rear springs install along with a tbar crank t-bar crank for the fronts. I'm doubling up on the spelling there in attempt to help future people trying to search for this topic. I count not really find much info on it. I do suck at searching though...

I purchased the OME rear shocks and springs from Rocky-Road.com. I purchased the standard rate springs after talking to them about it. My main goal for this was to eliminate the rear end droop when towing our camper. They said the heavy duty rate springs would be overkill.

The 1.25" lift was a little bonus. I'm putting 33's on in a couple weeks and I'm hoping the little lift will compliment these well. We'll see and report back.

The install was very easy:

-Measure each corner.
-Jack up rear of truck. I used the pumpkin.
-Secure with jackstands on frame. Make sure the rear suspension is independent of the jackstands.
-Remove rear wheels
-Unbolt sway bar. One 14mm nut on each side.
-Unbolt shock. Two 14mm nuts on the top and one 24mm nut on the bottom or each shock.
-On passenger side, unbolt the 24mm nut on the cross bar.
-Lower jack (pumpkin and suspension will lower) BE CAREFUL OF THE SINGLE BRAKE LINE NEAR THE CENTER OF THE PUMPKIN. This brake line is tough, but you don't want to yank or stretch it.
-Pull out spings
-Clean stuff

Reverse the process and install the new OME parts. The OME shocks have a 17mm nut on top instead of 2 14mm.

Below are the pictures of the old and new shocks/springs. You can see that my old shocks were shot. I'm looking forward to the new improved ride quality! Also notice that the OME springs are the same height as OEM but have an extra coil. OEM has 7 compared to 8 on the OME.
