I have marked some states as ones I won't even consider moving to. Shame too because California seems like a beautiful place...
California is a Really hot chick with Herpes, Looks beautiful, but you know as soon as you go in, you're f-ed...
Like a buddy of mine always says, "For every smokin' hot chick you see, there's a guy sick of her sh*t." <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
EDIT:
To that end, I wonder if everyone reaches a point in life where they think, "My country is really screwed up." Citizens United gave corporate interests unfettered power to sway elections, everyone's up in arms about how various groups were singled out by the IRS for their political beliefs, when the classification they were trying to get was solely for the purposes of doing what the classification forbids - engaging in politics, the United States is throwing a fit like a spoiled rich kid that some whistleblower pointed out their wrongdoing when we demand the same of every other country in the world, and the SCOTUS just destroyed the 5th Amendment yesterday to all of ZERO fanfare in the media.
A whole lot of people have a whole lot to lose when the people of the world are truly free. Our economic position is - like nearly every other developed nation - dependent upon protectionist, closet fascism. Limit the rights of the people in order to protect corporate interests from competition. Make it difficult for the people to freely move - about the planet - in order to capture taxes. Allow corporate interests to lie, cheat, and psychologically manipulate the population into going deep into indentured servitude (read: debt) in order to maintain 30-40% profit margins while simultaneously giving those few people not laid off when the job went to Mexico or China a 3% raise because "everyone's doing more with less these days."
Ugh. Sucks to be held hostage by material possessions. If I were a single guy, I'd be deep into South America these days.
