If you go to mitusbishilinks.com, you will find an 89 factory service manual in .pdf, and an 89 powertrain diagnostics manual, both of which you will find very useful in determining exactly what's wrong. I assume you have no spark? The power transistor is just an ecu controlled switch which controls the ground path from the coil. Break the ground path and the coil sparks.
