There's something going on that's more than just the gasket, and I'm suspecting the mating flange on the pan as John suggested. Have you pinpointed the source of the leak, as in, specifically which portion of the pan it leaks from? Baby powder or corn starch works well to track down leaks - dust some on the pan flange and check it for fresh wet spots after a while. That'll give you an idea of which part of the pan to closely check the flange for warpage and distended bolt holes from overtightened pan bolts.

Johnny, Yep I was thinking of using ULtra Grey RTV. as for a;; the research suggest its transmission safe and used on jeep regularly. I'll probably do it tomorrow or Thurs. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

So last week I took a day off and replaced the gasket. Except using the OEM gasket I used the permatex right stuff. Supposed to be good stuff and looks to be working. The pan did not have issues of warped holes or etc It sat flat on the counter top edge as the dip stick holder won't let you set the entire thing on the counter flat. Looks to be where the linkage goes into the tranny. On the drivers side just above the transmission pan. Looks to be an o-ring. I'll have to get underneath it again and inspect better. Probably Thursday. Pisses me off. All I want to do is take this thing on some trails.

Glad to see everyone is doing good and hit me up with the next meet. I wanna see Adams Toyota get going. The will be pretty rad.

I think i did the shift selector o ring once before, may have been NP231 but it's probably the same procedure. I took off the shift linkage, removed a little washer and spacer from underneath it and dug the seal out with a seal pick. Cleaned the bore and installed a new o ring, replaced the washer, spacer and linkage, done deal. Took me a bunch of seconds.

This was my plan. Seal pick etc and pop new one in. It seems to leak pretty good when warmed up. Hopefully this will be the end of my tranny woes. If not I am contemplating just pulling it out and going over the entire thing. Going nuts dealing with this.

Tete, Harbor Freight has an o-ring set in metric that could be your solution pretty inexpensively. They also sell a great little set of four picks with various curves to the tips and they are also quite cheap. Might want to check them out. And I'm hooked on using Scrubbing Bubbles (Walmart has it the cheapest) as a degreaser. Fresh lemony scent instead of the gross smell from Gunk degreaser afterwards, too.
