Just get them to order you the right part. The transmission in there is fine. Once it's fixed you can forget all about it.

Ordered the part today. It has to come from mitsubishi japan I'm told. Bummer it will take some time however happy to hopefully have the correct part.

I tried to use the search function regarding roof racks but for gen 1 lwb withe slanted roof, nothing really specific came about. I figure I will need the rain gutter type. I have found plenty of them locally, however my concern is the hight. Thte gutter is on the outer trim of the vehicle but the roof line begins to rise. In the past have you guys had issues with this, for those who ahve owned the lwb G1? The gen 2+ seem to have it much easier in this respect.

The old Conferr portal racks were available with gutter mounts in either a 4" or 6" height, to account for the roof undulations. You could also direct mount, aka drill the roof, and make appropriate spacers for the front of a longer rack.

I think my best bet is to use what some work vans or trucks use to carry supplies, ladders, etc. some can carry some massive weight and considering I have two kayaks thats probably the best. They seem to be gutter mount.

Till I find a proper roof rack here is how I'm rolling.

As a follow up to exp portal post. Instead of the ladder / supply rack I got a hold of some A1 rain gutter yakima towers. These fit nicely except they are too short. I did manage to find extension blocks that will make it plenty high. I'm going to use coated gas pipe for the rails as they are plenty strong and the same size as the yakima. Probably stronger than the yakima. I'll put end caps on each end to finish it off. The pipe I found is 27$ cut to size. That's at lowes. I bet at a pipe supply it's cheaper so I'll check that route before purchase. Ordered a new gasket for the leaky pan. I am going at it for the last time before I drop it off at a mechanic that guarentees their work. Once done ill address the cv / axle. If all pans out the POS will be perfect for my endeavors for the time being. I picked up another kayak so my lady has one also. If I get my nuances solved, ill start to focus on little things. Lights, interior. TINT. lol be stoked when I can start attending meetings again.

Well it's been a minute. Still leaking but plan on having that fixed real soon. In the mean time I finally got a rack. Used the yakima 1a towers with some coated gas pipe from lowes. Way cheaper than yakimas 80$ 58 bars and I had them cut to size. 54". The coated pipe is the exact fit. It's scotch coat I think it something. I'll get furniture rubbers for the ends to clean it up.

Still need the yakima riser blocks but this will do for the time being till some pop up on the bay. I'm leaving the pipes brown as I like the contrast.
