"Very central for the most part"?? I guess, but look at a map sometime. There's a radioactive cloud of you guys in the east valley.

Now, I'M central. 16th St and Camelback. RyanY and Dylan are north and we could say Motero is on another add-on map that goes west. Wittman to San Tan Valley is almost 90 miles! It's about 46 from my place. So, thanks to Motero, I can call myself "central."

We need a meeting.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Ok. I did the degreae and found no leaks. Wtf. Exactly. I have driven it two days now w no leaks. Kinda driving me mad. The pan is not leaking. At least not now. The speedo cable is not leaking. I ran a rag across the back of the camsdeals and took a light to it. Nothing. Whatever it is, it has stopped momentarily. Ill just keep checking for it. If it were the cam seals wouldn't it have to come down the bell housing at some point? Also the leak fluid was hard to identify. It wasnt obviously red but it also ran in a bunch of dirt and grime. Ill sell the truck and buy a different before I rebuild it. That kinda of money right out of the gate is something I'm not ready to do. My kid has a surgery coming up and it's just not in the cards. Or just drive it till it gives then rebuild it. It really drive pretty amazing given it age.

Got my tires on. Went to Wally World. Total dumb mistake but I couldn't find someone to get me in and out before work. They couldn't figure out the center caps so I told them to leave them off.

I have to do the shocks this weekend ill put the caps on myself if they didn't totally destroy them. I may omit them all together and paint the wheels black anyways. Unless they serve some function.

Ok so I believe I found the leak. It is definently not ATF. It's oil. It's not coming from the top back of the motor either. It looks to be isolated to the tranny.

Here are my questions. Many are going to be dumb so bear w me.

It looks to be just behind the transmission oil pan. Right about where the transfer case shift lever is placed

Do they use gear oil there or ATF in this area of the transmission? This looks clearly like regular oil leaking not ATF. Here is the pic.

Hard to see but on the right you can see it weeping.

It's just behind this square plate on the right side.

Not a massive leak but irritating for sure. And something I would like to take care of.

I would imagine there would be gear oil in this thing somewhere?

Don't know jack about automatics.

Now I need to find the source. This looks to be a transmission mount but the leak should be from from near by. It is dripping down to the larger trans support underneath.

More pics that may help

I hope this make some sense.

Thats gear oil coming from your transfer case the tranny mount is bolted to the transmission tailshaft housing(aka transmission to transfer case adapter) the transfer case may need to come out and be resealed.

Yea. I gotta investigate it a bit more. I'm hoping its something a bit easier like the shaft seal. Regardless look like it'll be a bit of work to do. I guess first I have to get the support beam off and see exactly where the leak is. Then go from there.

Yup, xcase as I also suggested. If I were to guess I'd say from your front drive shaft seal.

Body Damage is Cool
Transfer case is a pretty quick job and only $30 in seals. Not to bad at all. Probably a half days worth of work. One thing you could look into is the shifter. Where it bolts down on top. The breather could be rotted away. I would definitely do what Lordtrunks and Off roader suggested though. Just replace the seals just to be sure. Buy the stuff, get ahold of us and ask for some help and get it done. All of us are usually willing to help. All you have to do is ask. . We all require 1 or 2 small fee's of course though.

Is this something you guys suggest dealer only for gaskets or does it not really matter? If so ill look into ordering those things today from the dealer and go from there. Ill definently be looking for help. A job like that is just asking for trouble to tackle solo. I appreciate the help and in the mean time ill do the shocks. And tidy up a few other things.

Edit : in regards to the shifter, mine being automatic, I imagine I would remove the center console and approach from above. Then given access I could tell if the top seal is bad ?

Thanks again.
