I won't go on a rant & rave about how this new "STAR" system here in Cali works but my question is this...
What is everyone's plans to (let's just say "figit") around this?
Reason being is my 95 SR is due up in 2 months, I know it won't pass and has needed a little "help" so to speak before. REDCAR (for those that know me). well let's just say is above the law
Now before you law bidding/green hippies come on here and say "you need to make it pass emissions for the environment" I have a 98% generation/9kw solar system on the house, own (NOT LEASE) a Leaf and my wife a Tesla S..
These 2 are my weekend (or twice a year) vehicles and the STAR system was designed to get 1999 and OLDER vehicles OFF THE ROAD...
This effects EVERYONE in CA and soon other states.. Pirate4x4, and TONS of other car forums are freaking out about this new test.
I'm wondering is there loopholes around this? Otherwise, I have a perfectly good 95SR that's going to the state junkyard for $1500...
And REDCAR... OVER MY DEAD BODY

I know nothing of this, but it looks like a couple of scenarios spring up. One, there's going to be a cottage industry getting vehicles to pass, and two, there could be a lot of used vehicles for sale to Arizonans soon.
I like RedCar.

Its basically a new type of smog check station, (no more GOLD) or standard "Test Only" for pre-2000 vehicles.. These new "STAR" places have security cameras, and also take pics & VIDEO of the event when it happens to make sure the smog tech doesn't do any trickery. 2000 and up vehicles don't even get the sniffer test or dyno anymore. Just a quick ODB2 plug (no, not even 1996-1999) and if you're good, you pass.. It's basically a way to get old vehicles off the road. TONS of car forums talking about this. stop-the-star-program Fiero Forums going nuts over STAR Roadster guys ARE PISSED!!! 350z and 240 guys and flipping OUT!!!

The price you pay for living in a state with little public transit, high population, and an environment that supports pollution with probably an underground system for passing smoggy vehicles.
I would feel angry as well as I have a 95 Camry and the 92 Montero - both maintained well and in excellent condition. I even replaced the CAT on the Montero even though there are no checks here to see if it's removed.
Maybe just remove the plates and trailer it to off road sites.

efiin A man! They've got it all wrong, stupid effin politicians.
IF IT PASSES SNIFF TEST, THAT SHOULD BE ALL THAT MATTERS!!!
I'll find a way around this BS, I am NOT going to revert all the vacuum line to stock, they didn't work worth a Sh**. I am also going to NOT remove my intake, or my headers...
These politicians should go suck a tailpipe, on a diesel...

My 1994 just past the smog test with flying colors last week. So what's the problem? If you want to keep your truck, fix it.
I installed new spark plug wires, new plugs, new dizzy cap and rotor, change the oil, added a new muffler, tailpipe, cat converter.
