Hi there,
Thanks for your reply. I think the problem is with the factory set (integrated) security. Kia Australia says it can be adjusted but as soon as the power is disconnected (or flat battery) the system is dead and has to be reactivated by a technician with special equipment. Not a good thing when you're somewhere in the bush!! Still searching.
