I used a Miller XMT350 and 71M wire, I didn't like the aftermarket deals either. I made it heavy because i figured why not, had the plate and stuff laying around and Wrenchwench gave me the actual reciever part.

On the Gen 1 there is a loop on the frame to hook your chains to it's right next to the hitch mounting point. Gen 2's don't have it and i'm not sure about Gen 1 LWB's.
