Yeah good point. Hope to see him tomorrow and I'll pass that on. Thanks.

Saw my friend this morning. Told me he repositioned the timing belt yesterday (off by 2 teeth) and it fired right up. Evidently (to me), if the timing is off by a factor of X, the ecm must tell coil pack #3 to not fire. Nothing else happened or occurred other than the possible not needed replacement of the coil pack, transistor and ecm redo (bunch of money). A couple of days before, he had talked to a Mitsubishi mechanic who had a similar experience on a passenger car. Same symptoms. Couldn't get it going, redid the timing belt and voila. Strange but true. Anyway, just wanted to let you know and wanted to especially say thank you for your help. Thanks guys.

Only in Alabama does this happen. Glad he got it running, even if we weren't much help. Hear they found that missing 'Bama coed's body in the Locust Fork - sorry to hear that - got a cousin at 'Bama, female type. Makes me worry...

Haven't heard about it. I'll check it out. Or are you talking about the white water rafting incident? Thanks again my friend.

I heard about it sort of second hand, from my aunt's housekeeper whose English is iffy, and I got the impression it was some sort of abduction. Could have been a rafting incident, but I've kayaked the Locust Fork, and I don't think you could raft it, at least on the upper end - too narrow, and one very hairy ride...

I may be ooming thru your area one day soon - need to check on my 97yr old uncle in Winfield and make sure he's got company when he gets on the tractor.

Yeah actually she was just tubing with friends. Certified diver, life guard etc. Evidently must have hit her head on a rock and that was that. Sad. 97? How about that. Pretty cool.

97 is only part of his story. In 1942, he was on Guadalcanal, driving a captured Japanese dozer finishing Fighter One landing strip when a Marine captain came around grabbing every man he could find. Uncle grabbed an 03-A3 Springfield and a trenching shovel and tagged along. To Bloody Ridge with the Raiders, where he got his cheek ripped open with a bayonet while he killed the man wielding it with the trenching shovel. I don't know what all else he did that day, because he still won't talk about it, but it won him the DSC, a Purple Heart, and the Silver Star. Not bad for a son of a west Alabama dirt farmer who never raised his voice in anger in my memory, and can still straight arm a 12 pound sledge hammer. My hero.
