Need a Spot
Quick Question, One of my rear drive shaft u-joints went out about 3 weeks ago, had it towed to the dealership who couldn't order parts for a drive shaft and wanted $1350 to put a new one in... I found a place who rebuilds driveshaft's and have been pulling parts off my truck at night and taking them to the place who rebuilds them. Now I have a new Driveshaft ($230)

So it occurred to me that I should be able to put my truck in FWD and have a front wheel drive truck.... I have about 40 miles to go to get it home... The whole rear drive shaft is in the backseat of my car... I would rather do this than work on it in Toyotas lot at night...

Has anyone done this, opinions?? 06 Taco TRD Access Cab 120K

Yep, that's how ya do it. If you're able to put it in 4wd and the CVs engage up front, you can get it home; just go easy; no need to hotfoot it.

Had a friend who just blew up his front line on a Dakota; departed the vehicle. Nothing left of the rear ujoint and flange. Lost all his bolts. Looked like he just replaced it.
