My montero sits for weeks and after vacation a week back I jumped in it to take it for a spin like I usually do every few weeks. I noticed it didn't want to rev very high and it didn't sound the same. After driving the neighborhood I know something was wrong Because it couldn't get to 15 mph and sounded like it was bad gas or a bad pump. It's from the VSS leaking a lot of oil and then it began to burn in the CAT/Exhaust. Extra oil can cause CAT to fail -or so I heard.
I had a chevy that went out of time once (distributer turned) and it caused hot CAT and cracked the Exhaust manifolds.
