Front Hub Removal on a Gen1

Anybody discovered a handy way to remove/re-torque the front hub lock ring without Mitsubishi's special tool? Removal should be a breeze but I think the manual calls for a 100+ ft-lb re-torque on installation (then backed off to like 25)

gm 3/4T lockring socket with all but 2 prongs cut off

I took the lock ring off and took it with me to the parts store to ensure I got the right one.
