I have both the Sport (2000 Limited) and the GenII Montero. No mods on the Sport but I use it for daily driving duties. I find it easy to work on and I have been getting 20MPG with mixed highway and city driving. Not bad considering it has the 3.5L.

In 2000 the Montero Sport ditched the rear leaf springs so the lift options changed a little. The Torsion bar can gain you an inch or two in the front. I think most sport owners opt for the OME lift.
