Body Damage is Cool
Hopefully this time it puts it in the right thread.

1. round headlights is a styling feature I always liked.
2. I like the air lockers and elockers. Both have advantages
3. Factory snorkel would be cool. or the air filer be in the cab of the vehicle.
4. Rubber flooring.
5. Vinyl seats. Easy to clean.
6. I like in some jeeps the multiple switch delete so you can add switches like for lights, the lockers, etc...
7. Hood vent like the hummers or the scoop like the old isuzus
8. bring back the roof gutter and reenforce it for roof racks
9. better groument access points in the engine fire wall and back area to run wires.
10. if 4 dr option I like the idea of eveything laying flat like alot of the modern vehicles
11. The storage cubbies in the floor. The crysler mini van has this and I thought it was cool. Just avoid the middle area where driveshaft is.
12. Leave the access panel for the fuel tank.
13. Prewire an overhead console for whatever cb, extra lights, chargers
14. Manual windows and manual locks
15. Easy pop off door cards/panels like the gen 1's
16. Anchor points on the frame to bolt up stought rock rails
17. Truly define the area behind the bumper under the grill for a winch to be installed.
18. a fun thing to make it competetive with jeep is take off doors and half doors.
19. add air filter to the ac/heating system.
20. cupholders

there are more things i know but this a good start

A lot of the things you guys have been mentioning have been basically spot on for what we had in mind. Keep things coming, I'll make another thread for the "sandbox" in the form of a poll. This will be where i will collect the data on what will be equipped or available as an after sales option as well as technical features. I'll make a series of posts within that thread to focus on specific areas and we'll knock them out one by one, I'll cross post these threads on a few forums but the activity will be here to keep it centralized.
Lastly i'll collect ideas and drawings from everyone to be submitted for the final drawing(s). After that we'll reveal some hints to the body styling for everyone to voice their opinions on without actually showing the concept(s) as a whole. This will prevent the internet from knowing what it looks like before MM, secrecy in this area is important (probably why automotive companies don't open source anything)
I don't have a deadline on this project yet but i'll get that up ASAP, I've got a good headstart though.

Keep the ideas in this thread, I won't allow posting in the "sandbox".

See Jeep for aftermarket support requirements... i.e. Mitsu needs to start working with aftermarket suppliers not just Mitsu suppliers as we've all see how effective ignoring the aftermarket has been for them.

Oh, see Jeep for capabilities and options but see Mitsu for reliability and rock solid stock platform & comfortable ride.

There first must be an interest, if 20 guys want a lift but only 5 are willing to pay for it there's a good chance it won't get made. The truck needs to stand on it's own first, and remember aftermarket parts for Jeeps are not cheap (maybe cheaply built but not cheap).
I'm all for drumming up aftermarket support and that will be another future goal if they ever make us another real 4x4.

Build it right and you don't need aftermarket.

dual trailing arm rear suspension without a panhard rod - forward ends of upper TA's very close together to locate reat axle side to side.

I agree with the built right comment 100%

One thing i'd like to ad that i was talking about earlier today is improving durability over the Gen 2, we all seem to agree on the solid front axle to replace the IFS. I'd like to take it a step further and change the rear to a full floating axle and have the outer splines front and rear be 30 spline. This will give us an instant axle aftermarket for those who will need it "in these days of 40"+ size tires.

Agreed but my understanding after talking with big aftermaket suppliers like ARB is that even when support is requested, Mitsu wasn't willing to support vendors with dimensional data or any other tech info that would have made it easier for them to provide aftermarket products.

I know that coil-over shocks have been mentioned for the front. How about the rear? Also, is the overall design concern here low speed rocks, high speed desert, camping? Or multi-tool?

Coilovers would be upfront in the case of IFS equipped truck.

I would definately supply technical info to the aftermarket, personally if i had to. Luckily one of the goals is to utilize parts in existance and standardize others for cross application support. For example the 30 spline outer axles i mentioned would give us instant access to upgrade shafts already available.

I'd say the goal is multi purpose rig, buy and build to your needs.
