Axle gearing was same throughout the marque: 4.625 and 4.875 for the high altitude. The '86 body and other exterior fitments are the same. Interior was still in two levels, with / without exposed painted surfaces. The radio and center consoles were holdovers from the 83-85 models. This particular Montero with the stainless trim may have shiny ends over the upper grab handles, rather than color-coordinated rubber bits. '86 was the break year for the SWB in many aspects.
