The not going into overdrive and not downshifting may be as simple as adjusting the kickdown cable. When I got mine in 2006 (1994 model), the seller had tried to clean the engine up and pulled the kickdown cable out of the metal ferrule at the intake. It would not shift into OD until you mash ed gas to the floor and released while on a flat road.
