Hi guys, I had a pretty crazy Friday night. I was driving to church softball on Friday night with my wife and 2 daughters. Everything was normal, just one block away from our turn, I noticed strange movement in the side mirror. Before I could look back, the Montero lurched forward, up in the air a little, and the rear end kicked out just a little. At the same time hear the loud indescribable sounds of a car crash. Knowing we've been hit I attempt to straighten it out while at the same time look ahead to see what the next danger will be.

I look out my drivers side window (rolled down already) and see a silver sedan (Pontiac g5) flying past me out of control and hitting the GMC envoy that was in front of me and one lane over. The g5 and the gmc are now both spinning out of control. Just about the time I straighten out the Montero, I see the g5 is going to hit us again and that I'm going to ram the GMC which is now directly in front of me. The g5 hits us again, this time in front and lands parallel with the Montero and up against it. All three vehicles come to a stop.

I do a quick check to make sure the wife and kids are safe. They are all conscience and moving with no complaints. I look in front of me to see the driver of the GMC is moving around OK. Next I look over in the g5 and see that the driver is inside thrashing, kicking, and whaling his limbs out of control. He cannot seem to exit the vehicle from the drivers side so he starts to climb out of his passenger side window (shattered from the crash) and into my drivers side window. I tell him that he cannot come through our vehicle and that he needs to exit his drivers side door.

He does not listen and starts wrestling his way into the Montero wrestling and fighting me. My initial response was that he was hurt and needed help. After he entered the Montero however I realized this was not the case. Once in, he is basically sitting on my lap wrestling and fighting with me. When my wife saw him coming, she jumped out and tried to cover the kids who were in the backseat. I see in his eyes that he is certainly hopped up on something. He was much too strong, fast, and crazy to be sober.

At this point I decide I just need to get him out. I get him wrestled over to the passenger seat and somehow in the madness the door is shut and locked. I was able to reach around him and pull the lock up and open the door. Eventually I was able to kick him out of the passenger side door.

After that he ran away into the woods. It took a minute to process what just happened. I got out and was so thankful to see my wife and kids were safe.

Two witnesses chased him through the woods and into our local bowling alley, through the bowling alley. The k9 unit was at the bowling alley when they exited. They released the dog and starting fighting with him. In the madness the dog bit the cop and the guy attempted to steal the cop car. Somehow the guy punched the cop in the face and got away again running into the woods. By this time the helicopter was on him. He ran into the Walgreens and stole a shirt to try and change his appearance. By the time he exited the Walgreens, there were a few more cops. He resisted arrest and they tazered his ass.

The g5 and GMC were trashed. Neither were drivable. We drove the Montero home. I'm so thankful that God used our Montero to keep us safe and that we didn't drive the Prius that night. The wife and kids are fine. I'm a little sore, probably from wrestling the guy out of the truck. You will laugh when you see the damage sustained to the Montero. It's bad, but nothing compared to the g5.

This was a nice truck. I had just told my wife that I was planning to keep it for 5 years (very weird for me). I'm sure it's now monetarily worthless. The drivers side doors are a little off, the rear door is a little off, and the front fender is a little off. It pulls to the left now. The rear is trashed, both drivers side wheels and tires were hit hard. I don't know what I'm going to do with it.

The g5 is not owned by the crazy driver. The owner was MIA on Friday night. We don't know if the car was stolen or if the owner has insurance. I don't have comp, collision, or uninsured motorist on the Montero so it's all going to depend on finding the owner and trying to make a claim with her insurance. I may be SOL, in which case I may just leave it as is and drive it until the wheels fall off.

This was a crazy experience. Our trucks are pretty awesome machines. Based on the damage, distance traveled during wreck, they estimated the g5 at 90-100mph and said they believe he was actually trying to steal my Montero when he initially entered it. I'll be posting pictures up soon.

bless you and your family for safely getting out of that accident. sounds like g5 guy was on CM. I see a lot of strange people out here in vegas and certainly attempt my best to keep away from them. Its too bad about your Montero but it delivered you and your loved ones back home safely, so it has successfully done its job. After things mellow back out, maybe you can find another monty.....
