I played on our church softball team for a long time. We had one guy who always showed up, and always tried his best, and never, well almost never, got a hit. He could sort of field the ball. We played him at catcher, and I as the pitcher covered the plate when necessary to take the throw on a play at the plate. We were playing our hated rival, the Baptists, who took the game way too seriously, and did radical stuff like practicing all year long and bringing in ringers and the like, in the season championship game, and were down three runs in the bottm of the last inning when he came up to bat, and with two strikes and no balls, smashed a line drive home run over the left field fence with the bases loaded and won the game. Nobody sucks in the long haul...

Please write a book, Fasteddy. I would immediately buy multiple copies.

.... It was growing late, and the lights came on in their ones and twos and manys.
It was time for the Bug to feed, and he dressed in the dark, wondering what chance would bring across his stalk tonight. He put on his tight jeans and the silk shirt and the tough leather jacket and the Indiana Jones hat and went out and got in the Beemer, checking the knife and handcuffs and razor and bottle of ether with the rag in the glove box...

Ha! Ah yes, the baptist team. That sounds very familiar hehe.
I just got a call from insurance. They totaled the Montero and stated the value at $4,796.03. I'm content with that number except we now have a problem. They are claiming that the policy does not have enough money to cover the damages on all vehicles so they want to prorate the payment amounts. I said that was unacceptable and I will not take less than $4796.03.
My hunt for a lawyer is not going well. They only seem to want the cases with death or major injury. Any advice?

Search autotrader and see what other monteros are selling for. Basically the value they give you should be equal to the price it costs to buy another vehicle of equal quality in the area you live. I'm guessing the first number an insurance company throws out will always be low.
what are your state minimums on liability? Is it really likely that this much total damage was caused to property? Might be an easy way to call BS on the whole thing.

Haul butt down to small claims court and file for $5k, if that's the limit, or more if you can. No lawyer needed, and he who files first has first claim on the insurance available. The insured doesn't quit owing momey just because the insurance gets used up, either.

I have an appointment with a lawyer this afternoon. I have a good feeling about this one after speaking with them on the phone. Here is another nice little write up on the gentleman who hit us: http://pibillwarner.wordpress.com/2013/0...ries-to-escape/
