Getting the Wheeling Fever

I've seen it mentioned a couple of times, but can't seem to find a thread about the actual process. Anyone have a link to a website or thread?
I'm collecting parts to do this, and plan to do it over winter.
So far I have a NOS G64b wideblock to start the build. Plans are for a 2g Eclipse DOHC 4G63 head Possible 2g 4G64 Pistons (Pretty sure the stock 8V/SOHC pistons need to be swapped) Evo 8 exhaust manifold Evo 8 Turbo Evo 8 Intake Manifold / Throttle body 95 EEPROM ECU running ECMLink / 2g engine wiring harness 6-bolt FWD Flywheel / pressure plate 3G Eclipse GT/V6 clutch disc
Look forward to hearing some tips!

projectzerog.com for all the known issues and fixes.
One of us is in the process now, and well along, I think. One of us has already done one, but I don't think he did an extensive writeup.
Not responsible for advice not taken...

I swapped a Gen 2 from 3.0 V6 to 4G64, It was a more involved swap than swapping one in place of a 2.6 but still relatively straight forward. Johnny B has one swapped into his '86 but i think he needs to reflare a fuel line or something still.

Yep, a little fueling work, a little minor accessory bracket figuring out work, etc. Lordtrunks did the wiring in a couple of mornings. The oil pan had to be "clearanced" to clear the front differential pumpkin. Nothing heavy.

How are the Motor mounts? I haven't measured yet and really looked at how they bolt up.
Not really worried about too much else, except maybe how the water neck will fit at the back of the engine.

You mean how ARE the motor mounts? They fit just fine. And what water neck at the back of the engine are you talking about?

John B. I think he's talking about the 4G63 head, it was made for a transverse motor and has water outlets on what were originally the side of the head, now the back and against the firewall.

Thanks... Fixed grammar. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
With a 4G63 DOHC head, the water neck will come out at the back of the head. Just curious about the clearance back there if anyone else has used this combo.

Oh, I didn't know anything about that stuff. My 2.4 came out of a D50. Except for smacking the oil pan with a hammer to make it fit, everything else mounted right up, except for the power steering pump and the a/c compressor being different from the Montero's that is still connected to the system with the compressor sitting off to the side, staring at the truck motor's compressor bolted to the engine but not connected to anything. And the seemingly huge amount of space between the front of the engine and where the radiator will sit. The D50 uses a fan spacer for that, though.
