I did a similar thing when doing my timing belt. I just hand rotated the cams (with a wrench), and hand rotated the crank as well. You have to watch out, because the cam lobes will force the cam to continue to swing around. The passenger cam (if I recall correctly) was pretty easy to get on the mark, and keep it there.... but the drivers side cam was kind of difficult to get it to sit on the mark and just balance there.

Just be sure to hand crank the engine (remove spark plugs to make it much easier) several times to make sure that everything stays lined up.
