I carry a full size 1911 pretty often, and the side bolster on the seats tend to jab the gun into my side. Getting tired of worrying about it sliding around or bouncing around while I explore trails, I took my spare Blackhawk molded outside the waistband holster and attached it with the 3 screws to my dash. I loved that holster but you can't conceal it without a coat, I am glad I found a real use for it, and it latches to the trigger gaurd so it won't just bounce out if I get a bit too bouncy offroad. ![[Linked Image]](https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/q73/s720x720/1383651_10153367935825643_426602040_n.jpg)

I have a friend who moulds a holster into a factory center consol for holding pistols. They look like they were factory installed.

Sorry, but I am against assault picks... I think besides my cupholder, its the best interior mod so far on that Montero... I plan on building a cabinet in the back that is as high as the rear seat folded flat, so I can then build a bolted in safe for something more tactical. I am pretty much working on the Montero to be an overland/survival/antizombie/defense vehicle

Shot with the glove box open, its still completely accessible and nothing is blocked aside from that little do nothing vent in front of the holster. ![[Linked Image]](https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/q79/s720x720/1376378_10153372602190643_2112383613_n.jpg) Also, the stereo magically reappeared...

I use a "left handed" Galco holster to secure my G19/17s to the drivers side console / cubby hole area. Very similar to your rig, but much more accessible, and inconspicuous.

Look forward to seeing/hearing about yours. Also, the stereo magically reappeared... Guess the guy had second thoughts, thinking of the pistol unholstered and following him no doubt!

I am not too worried about access, I practiced with it and I can draw faster than reaching to the floor or cupholder where it used to be. I also had the holster laying around and the trigger guard latch is a bonus. Also, it might be visible, but in PA its open carry and shot gun racks are still OK as long as your not storing them in the truck on the rack. I would tread lightly if I was a meth head trying to fight my way into this Montero
