A friend helped me get the solenoid off the starter, and it was fairly dirty in there. We cleaned it up, reassembled and bench tested it. It worked fine. So, I put it back in the truck and it starts right up every time now. Happy!

While trying to see which accessory was being noisy after getting it started, I had my son move the steering wheel back and forth while I watched and listened under the hood. Much to my surprise, the whole power steering bracket deflects at least an inch (maybe a whole mile- it's a lot!) when in you crank the wheel over. YEEEEE-IKES! Upon further inspection, I can see that one of the bolts that holds it to the block is *missing*.

I think I can get another bolt in there without removing the whole assembly. Does anyone know what size bolt that is? I'm expecting M8x1.0 or M10.1.25?

Also I saw that it's missing one of the lower bellhousing bolts. Any suggestions on a source (junkyard?)

Also, my son and I found the coolant leak! Turns out that it's one of the hoses going to the intake manifold under the carb. Easy fix smile
