Funny i just tried to let him borrow my '88, which he declined <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Hopefully Kevin will take it tomorrow until i get moved.

Feels good to actually have a plate on the '86 that's current. Those 'Historic Vehicle' plates are made with some real metal, too, just like the old style with raised and painted letters instead of those laser-etched ones for all the other plates (or whatever they are).

Ordered a fan spacer to get the fan closer to the radiator before I put the shroud on. Even without either of those, the temp never got close to half way, and it's been close to 90 lately here.

HoseB put the back seat back in and cleaned up the interior today. He is the eventual target buyer, so I'm letting him borrow it for work this week to remind him of how fun it is...hint, hint.

I guess I'll try the spacer idea under the motor mounts. Eventually it's going to need a/c, and that really just involves having a shop make two new hoses, putting in a new receiver-dryer and orifice tube and converting the set-up to R-134a.

Truck is running pretty good, for which I'm happy and grateful for all the help along the way.

Passenger side front half shaft ('86) spit the large ball bearings out last week and the boots have been torn and neglected for years. Time for some old/new half shafts and new boots. The boots will be here Friday, 10/3/14, along with parts to basically re-do the front suspension and steering, all the while keeping it totally Gen 1 stock.

I should get that $155 20-ton shop press, shouldn't I? I mean I'll need it for the upper ball joints and probably the front bushing in the lower control arm. Could've used it for the bushings in the rear trailing arms of the '95, too, further reducing the cost-benefit scale.

When can I give you the shafts? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> If you're going to Oktoberfest in Flagstaff this SAturday i'll bring them up the hill.

I'll be home this weekend, like most. Any way to hand them off to someone else so I can pick them up and get to work on them?

Rock Auto shorted me one boot for the front outer half shaft, so they're shipping another out. Guess that ended up being O.K. since I haven't retrieved the shafts themselves yet.

On another note, we learned to pay better attention to which parts go on different models. A 2WD truck oil pan does not fit where a Montero oil pan does. This necessitated a trip to Auto Zone for a new gasket and a dig through the parts pile to locate the correct oil pick up. I'll let your brain paint the picture...
