Newest development on the homefront: In exchange for my substandard tile work at Lordtrunk's house, he's going to fix my '86's woes, or at least enough of them that it runs again.
For those who aren't up to speed on that vehicles status, HoseB was driving it one day when a loose wiring harness fell off its precarious perch on the firewall and made solid contact with the red-hot exhaust manifold, frying and obliterating the color on the wires and making the engine immediately quit running.
I was able to figure out that 8 of the wires controlled the individual fuel injectors, and I "think" I got those wired back up correctly. The other four wires come from the distributor and make a color change at the connector that was melted worse than the Wicked Witch of the West, plus they don't appear in any electrical breakout that I have. Add to that the hard cold starting problem the engine has, and it becomes difficult for this caveman to figure out if I have the wires remotely close to being correct.
Enter The Wizard of Wires, Lordtrunks. Uh, unfortunately, I have a list of things for you to get to, my friend. Looks like I'm finishing up that tile work in your living room, too.

My bathroom is gutted and needs new tile. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> We can talk about it. I'd rather get my '95 running than set tile so Jorge gets his running, though. Are you thinking floors, walls and counters? John B.

LT has my '86 at his compound in the Far East. He sent me a text last night detailing some damage to my ECU (it uses a '90 ECU, not sure which one yet) that will likely require us to source a newer one. It also needs a working reverse safety switch. So there's that.
The final batch of parts are on order for my '95, including an Aisin water pump (both halves) and an OEM timing belt tensioner. I went ahead and got a Speedy Sleeve for the crankshaft in case there are scratches that a new (Timken) seal won't take care of. Monte3 had his mechanic take two swings at it but it wouldn't ever seal up for him, so it has been leaking since the last timing belt change. As soon as IncorporatedX can fit it in to his schedule, I'd like to get this truck over there so he can begin the process of finally getting it back on the road. I already have new lifters and valve stem seals waiting for it; it's quite an impressive collection of parts!
