Water pump on v6 leaking again, can I just take off the tension pulley and replace the pump?

Thanks for the reply! I have a '90. So very little of the timing belt is disturbed when just getting at the pump, is that what you are saying? Just take off the tensioner and I was going to mark the timing belt and get it to TDC just in case anything goes wrong.
