I now have the 5 speed jeep ax series trans adapter(AX5 or AX15) worked out. here is the ingredients, Mitsubishi trans bell housing modified (Thanks to Paul and Russ for the hook up on mitsu the parts), Starion flywheel and pressure plate. Found that a S10 clutch will work after massive research for the proper spline count, good thing is its over the counter at every part store. And last but not least my very own custom adapter
I know there will be a lot of questions and will post a detailed thread as I have time.
Here is A sneak peek of the housing in place with NP242 tcase. cool thing is its the same length as the auto trans.

I liked 'Mixtubishi' but it is your project. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" />

I'll get the clutch stuff off the parts car this weekend and in the mail Monday.

Very nice, glad I could help out on this project. Will probably be something similar in the future for me. Maybe 2015 :-), Will continue to hoard the 4cyl bellhousing to V5MT1 trans for my swap. I'd like to know more about your adapter plate... photos?

Thanks Paul!! Yes this a pretty straight forward project, if you have basic shop tools the adapter is not hard to make, there is a few things that need to be machined) and with patience you too can pull this off.
I will post pictures of it this weekend.

Thanks, Sure will be a lot better than the KM145
I think the AX15 or even the AX5 jeep trans is built stronger for sure. Some people may say the still have 5th gear problems but that's after they abused them...

Cut the stock case like this.

Here is the jeep trans with out the front bearing cover and adapter.

Here is a shot with the jeep modified bearing cover. I just cut the tb shaft off flush.

Modified milled bell housing

Here is the bell housing in place.

Bell housing bolted to the adapter and now the stock Montero parts are used.

TB and fork in place,

Everything has to be centered or your hosed for sure, Have to take your time when laying it out. If your off a 16th of an inch the input shaft will rub on the Throw-out bearing tube. A major problem if that would happen

The part I like the best is the nvg242 tcase. All the benefits of selectrac in an nvg case with all the options that makes available...

I like the all wheel drive option for sure. The Tcase is massive and build very well. The adapter is a little crude but functional. Iv put a lot of time and effort into making this work out. Should be really fun to drive behind the 4g64 power plant.
