From your newfound clearance area, take out the alternator mounting bolt and the one that connects the alt to the tensioner, then remove the wires (you did remove the negative battery cable first, didn't you?).
Seems I DID sort of mention that! Just giving you a hard time, Buddy. John B.

Don't go to Autozone or you will be swapping it out twice. Agreed, unfortunately. That's what I have now, they do NOT like my oil leak!

NO alternator likes an oil leak. My rebuilt one came with a note in the box saying they had a lot of cores being returned with oil soaked parts, and they warned to correct that situation or to expect it to happen again. They noted it was most likely cam seals leaking (on the DOHC 3.5, anyway).

John B. I've been taking mine to a local rebuilder. He will warranty his work unless there's oil on it. If there is it will destroy an alternator/starter quickly. That said, fix the leak or expect it to happen again in a very short period of time. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

John B. Yep..I plan to fix those seals when I do the timing belt. SOHC, mine.
