You need to do some cross checking on the MS 4.90s going into an earlier Gen II Montero. Yours likley has the smaller axles than the later 1990s and I'm not sure the MS's R&P will fit.
Similalry, the Aussie 3.15s were for the later Gen II's bigger t-case. You'd be looking at 2.85s old style, or the now "common ratio" 2.70s.

If the terrain is anything like Panama, I wouldn't waste time with the LSD in the front. Panama was really muddy and slick. I'd weld the front diff and put on some manual hubs, check with plh and his manual hubs . Locked wheels on terrain like this is so much better.

The front diff housing from the Montero Sport won't fit the Montero due to some minor differences, you'll have to swap over all the guts or just the R&P to your existing diff housing.

You are clearly no stranger to building old rides. Any chance you could poke around and see what is in the yards in PR for an old 2-door with the convertible j-top setup?

yeah, i talked to the owner, he said i was not the first one to drop by his junk yard looking for a 4.90 RP, and he asked if i knew there was a 5.something, but he said it needs to be imported from Australia ((he had 2 trucks from there, but axles were gone)) he said this is an easy swap, just swap the RP only according to him, since right now i'm in the middle of another project, i have finals as well and Christmas is here, i left them in reserve, i will leave these upgrades to work on next year, I will do the 2.70 t-case upgrade, got to talk to mark and friend of mine is gona help me do the swap, ausier loocker, still thinking about it, that welding idea is tempting, but ebay has the ausier locker in 200 bucks, not sure if mark has them too, i had a bad experience welding gears the last time i did that jajaja, oh noooooo, bad times bad times and the gears, well there mine, he said go pick em up, whenever...
on the other hand, i wanted to show u guys what im working on this december... wana make it run by new years
