I sent you an email with my address. Bring your heads with you so we can check them. We do machine work here in case you did not know.

Thanks, I have a friend here that's going up to your town to pick up some parts just after the holidays in a Tacoma pickup. Says he'll have enough room for my stuff.
Still thinking about this Diamante engine here with like 100 k on it. The heads have never been off so have never been planes. I'm wondering it Chrysler/montero cams will work with the Diamante's valves,,,like are valve stems the same length. I'm guess the vavles are probably a bigger diameter, but just the stem length would be questionable. Hoping anyway they are and they will sell me just the heads.

looks like it's just valve timing on cams ,,,,the lift appears to be the same as Dia. cams. ,,so It's the same valves ,,I think,,,I don't trust AllData that much.

Dang,,,,I got up to the yard north of Paso Robles to see if they still had that clean Diamante engine that probably never had the heads off , I'e., never resurfaced beyond tolerances. It's gone. I hate thinking of doing a bunch of labor that my bodies too old for,,,slapping defective heads back on a defective shortblock. Arg! , well for today I'll let myself feal defeated,,,tomorrow is another year. ((by the way , from what I can figure out the Dia. motor is only higher compression because the intake valve closes sooner than on the Montero cams. So the Dia. is still a noninterfenence I guess. The pistons have a different part number, maybe they are just reinforced. The bore , sroke, and displacement are the same on both engines. Cams are supposed to be marked with a G for one app. and an H for the other. I can't find either mark on my cams)).

C'mon, guys. Let's come together somehow and get Dave fixed up again. I'm too far away for physical help, but I can kick $omething in if others will as well.

Thanks John. You know today I'm more concerned about where to find un overmachined heads these days than the $$$. I need to check out those links uptop more. Oh , and Happy New Year everybody

How about using the diamante heads with the original cams? I think the diff in the diamante is the pistons, not the combustion chamber size. I also advise against the shims. You lose the squish area in the chamber which promotes detonation. Ok , I think I understand,,,a friend explained how the cam is not changing the compression , it is a domed interference piston in the diamante. So what your saying is what I'll do if another Diamante engine shows up around here, and I won't use the block. Still planning a trip up north soon to Grasscat", just hoping for heads to turn up somewhere.
