so 5w30 and it still does not want to start.-24 last night. even tried the batt out of the wife's diesel and no go.took 20 min for the 10w40 to drain.ordered a mag block heater and inline coolant heater today.

I just reread your original post. You said your lights were bright. Did you try cranking with them on? They should dim, if they don't, you have a bad connection to the starter. If they go out, your battery is bad. Just a suggestion. Good luck.

Laramie, Wyoming I think. Is it not turning over or its not starting when it does? maybe the starter not getting good power?
1997 Montero LS with a motor swap a 1990 V6 12valve ported heads full 2.5in Ex I run stock tire size for Daily use, off road have 33x12.5 working on going trubo.

I havent bin able to start my 88Raider for two days now. Battery charger is hooked up to help when trying to start. Ive added magnetic oil heater to oilpan now also. Only thing that i can think of, is that ive flooded the carb. Time will tell, shortly

Pull a spark plug. If it's wet with gasoline, it's flooded.

Only thing that i can think of, is that ive flooded the carb. Have you verified that your electric connections are clean & tight and done the electrical diagnostics that have already been suggested earlier in this thread? If so, what did you find?

I pulled the plugs and cleaned them up, I have a bunch of problems there. Everything from detonation to oil fouling, which I knew about from doing some quick maintenance when I bought it. There was no signs of flooding though.
The starter seems not to be liking the constant turning, luckily I bought two Raiders of same year, so one is a parts suv right now.
Anyone have any tips on removing the starter? The manual isnt great for that info. Is it better to remove the bolts from under or top of engine bay? Underneath seems a bit tight to get wrenches or even a long extension socket on it for the one bolt on the bottom.

Finally got a new starter in. 9/16 for the starter and 1/2 for electrical connection. Then just pull the other small wire off. It took me longer to take out then to put the new one in.
The first start( -18c) I gave it two pumps of gas before cranking it over. It started up and slowly reved up to 1000rpm and then died, [censored]... I tried two more times without any gas and nothering. 10min Later one pump gas,it semi chugged and then nothing.
Connections to battery, the nut for the cable to starter have bin cleaned. There is also a mag heater on the oil pan since noon time. Only other thing i can think of is now coil and that kind of electrical.
