Stick with Pennzoil Syncromesh, and being you have a 5VMT1, make sure you also put in the Mitsubishi MT additive. Helps the syncros shift smoothly.

I have had MT 1 Redline in there for about 5 years,,,but not many miles on it.
Slow secros on 1-2 are just something this trans has. Some must of been worse than mine because they had a kit for the 90-91. Slow syncros are a small price to pay having for this very H. D. trans.
I've used Stalube 80 with a little LSD juice, it worked good.
Used synchro too.
Down side to Redline is it seems to evntually eat silicone used on for trans gaskets, IMHO.

I have read the mt-85 helps with syncros. I also know about synthetic making seals leak so we will see. I don't think it's going to make things worse so I guess I'll give it a shot, my hope is that it helps when the truck is cold.

You won't know it's worth it unless you do a used oil analysis on present (other) oil then one on Redline. You'd then have to attempt to extrapolate the results over the number of miles you drive to see if the money spent is worth it in your mind.

I like stuff like that in the tranny and feel its worth the money... however the transfer case has no synchros or what not so i dont think you'll feel any difference there.

Regarding leaks. Synthetic has smaller molecules or something like that, so it is more likely to leak through a weak seal than conventional. So if you didnt have any leaks you shouldn't have any now unless any seals are just barely holding up. The notion that synthetic causes leaks isnt true.

the fem says to use gl-4 in the t-case. the other thing that noticed after putting the mt-90 in the tranny was a lot less gear noise, thats the main reason of adding it to the t-case plus who know what the pm put in there.

Correct. Dino oil molecules are long chains, where the synthetic oil molecules are much smaller. A marginal seal or gasket can hold dino oil but can leak synthetic oil with no other changes.
