You do not want to hear this. Mitsubishiparts.net shows the driver's side/LH as $780.98 and the passenger side/RH as $435.54 for my '95. I assume it's the same part for your year.

Contrast that to Rock Auto's rebuilts that range from $38.79 to $126.99, depending on brand, all of which carry a 12 mo. warranty. Three brands are listed for your '99.

Guess I should get new boots on mine before they tear. This sounds like a nightmare.

Body Damage is Cool
Well, the replacement axle shaft was here when I got home today and it's the same as the first one - the flange bolt circle is about 5mm too small. I think I'm just going to replace the boots on my original axle.

I finally talked to a manager at RockAuto about the issue after getting no help from one of the customer service flunkies, and it appears that they have 2 axles listed for the 95 Montero. One of them is listed for the 3.0 and both are listed for the 3.5 - the one that they have been sending me is the one that's listed as fitting both, so apparently their application information is incorrect.

I'm done with non OEM parts, what good is the savings if the parts don't last a fraction of the original parts.

driver side/LH $780.98 and the passenger side/RH as $435.54, is way cheaper than unlimited amounts of aftermarket shafts. Upgrades are a different story, you could get a great start on an SAS for that price or complete an SAS if you do the work yourself and find good deals.

I gave up on my custom housing yesterday and i'm getting this instead.

On the more expensive side of SAS's but i don't like broken axles or TREs and i'd like more upgrade options.

I'd rather spend that money (if I had it) on the factory adjustable shocks, because they're cool. I won't spend any of that, though because my whole truck only ran me less than four of those big bills and I haven't had to put a "whole lot" into it, at least not all at once, since then. I'm ready to let it all wring out this weekend. Let the parts fall where they may...

Wish we had some junk yard find to pick over, fellows. Had I thought ahead, I'd have had Mongo send us a set of front shafts this past weekend. I didn't even think of it. We need to get the word out that we need to scavenge every half shaft we can find. Obviously the rebuilds are junk.

I'm a$$hole deep in dead Montys up the hill here.. Come on up.. We have a 93 LS and 2000 sport at this time at Junk yard 'X' ..They let you bring your dog too..

On junk new parts ...Welcome to my world kids ..LOL.. One of the reasons I gave up on the whole repair thing..

I run OEM axles ..REmans are junk there all cut back to fix the bad cups at the balls .. China new are junk ... There real easy to change boots on them.. If I kill a axle ..I get a OEM used one and put new boots it... Before a aftermarket new or reman..
