i am trying to do a nice clean factory looking locker switch set up in my gen 1. there are 5 wires with the switch i got. what do they go to:
blue =
black =
yellow w/ black stripe =
green w/ white stripe =
black w/ white stripe =

I am not going to be straight wiring it to the pump. I may put a relay in the system. So if anyone know which wires I should get go to the pump and to the power supply. I can take a picture of the switch and harness if it would help.

Have you tried downloading the FSM for year Montero that locker out of and reading through the wiring diagram? I know it's controlled to a degree by other electronics that confirm the xcsse is in 4L among other things...

I'm just curious. Why not wire it straight to pump (with a fuse, of course)? No need for a relay, as the pump draw is oretty small. What kind of switch to you have? Eflasher?

i did not know how much juice the pump drew, but the plan is to straight wire it once I know which wires to tap into the switch. I have a factory R/D Locker switch from a gen 2 thats all i know. i got it from Toasty

The thing isn't much bigger than a fishtank air pump and operates to a low, low pressure. I'd put a 10 amp fuse outside the cab and call it good. The switch is "on" until you rock it back "off." The pump takes care of the rest. I'd love to bypass my factory safeguards and be able to use it in all modes, as I think I'm smart enough to keep from trying to engage it or keep it engaged at some insane speed/traction situation that would tear the rear end out.

Well you'll need some trick setup to stay on with the momentary switch, in a gen 2 the switch tells the locker computer what to do and then it takes care of the rest.

*on a side note we need a write up of the detent bypass on the T-case to use the locker in all modes including OD for those with 3.15 gears.

Here ya go, Toasty.

The center diff lock detection switch is used for both the center diff lock light and as an input for the rear diff lock computer. To allow rear lock operation independent of the center diff, splice a wire with a connection to ground and an enabling switch to the yellow/blue wire to the sensor switch on the center diff/tcase. When the enabling switch is on, rear diff lock operation should be enabled. Source: 92-95 fsm wiring diagram for rear diff lock circuit.

I don't think the switch shown above will work without the computer. It's a momentary switch that sends an enabling signal to the rdl computer, and the computer latches the circuit to the pump on and the release valve off until another signal, the off pulse from the shown switch, unlatches the circuit in the rdl computer and the release valve in the pump is enabled to let the air our of the rdl.

The only way to run the locker without the computer is a simple on/off spst switch, and use a 10a fuse which is what the oem system uses.

Nice switch and all, but it seems you'd be better off ordering an aftermarket switch labeled the way you want it and be done. I have used just plain old switches on both of mine and had no issues. Put your efforts into something useful.

i was wondering about that when i had it in my hands it felt like a momentary switch. I might gut the switch and use the cover and put it on rear gate unlock body
